OverviewGreat Wilbraham Church of England Primary School is a friendly village school set in an attractive rural village about 4 miles east of Cambridge. Our school is committed to providing an excellent standard of education with a strong Christian ethos. Our Mission Statement is highlighted in our school aims and we are constantly striving to provide a school environment which values the achievements of all our children and fosters the development of secure relationships promoting self-esteem, tolerance and concern for others. The school was re-housed in a new building in 1995. It is surrounded by extensive grounds providing a rich resource to enhance the curriculum. in 2006 we extended the school by building an ICT suite and re-locating the library. ICT continues to be a focus and we are pleased to have gained the NAACE mark for our ICT provision. We firmly believe in a strong partnership between home and school and this is promoted in as many ways as possible. We also have a strong PTFA and there is an independently run out of school club (Woosh) and pre-school (Little Warblers) which both operate from a mobile unit on site. There are on average 90-99 children on roll from the ages of four through to eleven. Great Wilbraham Primary School has created a significant reputation as a successful and attractive school, with an intake from the catchment areas of Great Wilbraham, Little Wilbraham and Six Mile Bottom as well as children from surrounding villages. Pupils then transfer to their secondary school, usually Bottisham Village College with which we have close links. This fairly small number on roll enables us to function as a large family, thus giving children the vital feeling of security, particularly in their formative years. We are very fortunate in having excellent play and nature facilities, including a pond and conservation area, a Gazebo for outdoor lessons and a sensory garden. We are also a committed Eco-school and have just been awarded the Green Flag. If there is any more information we can give you, or if you would like to arrange a visit to the school, please telephone the school and speak to me. We welcome visitors. Aims - To place equal importance upon the acquisition of the academic, creative and social skills that are necessary to develop children into fulfilled adults, able to make a positive contribution to our society. StrategyGreat Wilbraham is proud to be a leading primary school in Cambridgeshire. We consistently have high achievers and strive to support all learners through their time at primary school. THe governors and staff of Great Wilbraham have developed the school strategy to belence the desire to continue to achieve excellent academic results with that of helping all children to develop their confidence and social maturity, consistent with the Christian ethos of the school.
